And there was DevFest Warri 2023. Playing host to 250-plus attendees.
DevFest Warri — the annual developers festival hosted by the Google Developers Groups — GDG Warri since inception in 2018, once again happened on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at SaltCity Warri, Nigeria.
DevFest Warri has consistently brought hundreds of software developers, technical writers, open-source contributors, creatives, and everyone who's interested in technology in the city of Warri and its environs within Delta State, south of Nigeria for a full day of tech talks, codelabs, networking, and collaboration.
As a developer community, the GDG Warri holds on to the strong belief that amazing things can happen when “techies” gather.
And so on Saturday November 11, 2023, the GDG Warri played host to 250-plus people for the annual developers festival — #DevFestWarri.
DevFest Warri 2023 Speakers Line-Up
We were most honored to have had this incredible lineup of speakers joining us — in-person and virtual — for DevFest Warri 2023.
The insights these tech thought leaders shared with us at DevFest Warri still resonate with us and the community.
And in no particular order, I’d like to take a moment to say thank you to the speakers for honoring our invitation and submitting proposals to speak and inspire us, at DevFest Warri.
- Kelsey Hightower Software Engineer for doing a Ask Me Anything — AMA with us.
- Ali Spittel Developer Advocate at AWS Amplify shared on “Those who can, should teach.”
- Oghenetejiri Agbodoroba, Product Designer at Kimoyo Insights
- Laolu Obende, founder YouDesign
- Kelvin Forteta, Cyber Security
- Ugochi Ukpai, Software Engineer
And the missed AMA session with Quincy Larson
We had the honor of having the freeCodeCamp founder Quincy Larson accept our invite for an AMA.
But like anything that could go wrong, we missed his session due to a miscommunication on the email exchange from my end.
Quincy will be with us for next year’s DevFest and my sincere apologies to every community member who looked forward to the AMA with Quincy.
Thankful to our sponsors

To our amazing team and volunteers. Thanks
Two people in agreement can do more than two thousand people in disunity — Pastor Chris Oyakhilome
In making DevFest Warri 2023, I must reflect back and be thankful to the amazing team — fellow co-organizers of the GDG Warri — Edmund Chibuzor, Martha Freeborn, Tejiri Agbodoroba, Kelvin Forteta, Daniel Onoruikpe — for graciously giving their time and resources to the community.
Indeed the quote below encapsulates the people of unity and agreement as a people and a team.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. — Margaret Mead
To our amazing volunteers for DevFest Warri 2023, we say thank you. Your commitment, passion, and dedication to the community, made it happen.
